Who We are and How We Roll

For What It’s Worth (FWIW) is a weekly newsletter from impact investing trailblazer Jean Case and her team. We’re here to keep you up to date with the latest resources, news, and trends you need to confidently align your investments with your values.

Investing can be complicated, and there’s a lot of pressure to get it right to reach your goals. It seems even more complicated if you want to invest in a way that also positively impacts the world. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Each week we’ll break down the information you need — no matter where you are on your socially conscious investing journey — to make sure you’re the one at happy hour with all the info.

Our Readers Come First

We value you. We know keeping up with the latest resources, news, and trends you need in the world of ESG and sustainable investing takes more than an occasional glance. At the same time, life is busy, and sometimes it’s difficult to commit the time needed to keep up. No worries – that’s why we are here! We’ll keep our finger on the pulse of developments in the market in areas you care about, so you don’t have to. Each week we deliver accurate, relevant, and engaging content to bring unbiased, independent news, tools, and insights directly to your inbox, helping you build the confidence and knowledge you need to take your next steps as a socially conscious investor.

Independence

FWIW is independently owned. Our commitment to independence means the news and insights we present each week represent what we deem to be the most accurate and relevant. Yes, we’ll have partners and sponsors, so from time to time there will be content on important or timely topics that is clearly marked and differentiated so you know who is bringing a perspective.

Transparency

We are guided by a commitment to transparency. If FWIW is promoting the content of advertisers or sponsors or any such entities are included in FWIW content, it will be clearly highlighted and distinguished for our readers so there is no guesswork. If you want to see a more detailed description of our transparency policy with regards to advertisers and affiliates, see more here.

Diverse Perspectives Guide Us

We scour the market broadly for important information, tips, and trends so you don’t have to. We look for diverse voices to broaden our perspective and to check for blind spots. We commit to purposefully include and bring a range of richly diverse perspectives and voices — especially from women and people of color — that aren't often brought to you.

Our Founder

Jean Case is the founder of For What It’s Worth, Chairman of National Geographic Society and CEO of Case Impact Network and Case Foundation. She is a businesswoman, investor, Internet and impact investing trailblazer and philanthropist who is a passionate believer in the power of business and capital to be powerful forces for good. For What It’s Worth (FWIW) brings Jean’s ESG and impact investing expertise and insights to investors at any stage of their journey, and represents a continuation of her commitment to innovate and bring about transformational breakthroughs.

A long-time investor and champion of investing for impact, Jean helped set the stage for the explosion of ESG investing as an advisor to the G7 Social Impact Investing Task Force, achieving critical policy changes along the way. And in the earliest days of impact investing, her leadership at the Case Foundation spread the message with the influential and widely circulated Short Guide to Impact Investing. This, combined with the Case Foundation ten-year research effort to measure and report on attitudes and behaviors of millennials toward social good, provided Jean with a unique perspective on both the growth of interest in investing for social good and the impact millennials would have on our thinking about the opportunities available to invest in both profit and purpose.

Jean’s work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and she has appeared on CNBC, CNN, CBS, FOX and PBS NewsHour. She is a regular contributor to Forbes, Business Insider, and Fast Company. Jean’s national bestseller, Be Fearless: Five Principles for a Life of Breakthroughs and Purpose, shares vivid stories about world-changing founders and companies to highlight proven principles that drive innovation.

Jean has served on advisory boards at Harvard, Stanford and Georgetown. She serves as a regular guest lecturer at academic institutions across the nation, bringing her expertise in impact investing and ESG to the next generation. She founded FWIW so more people from more places can access the resources, news, and tools they need to confidently invest for the world they want and looks forward to hearing stories from your journey to investing for impact.
