Transparency
FWIW keeps all editorial decisions and actions distinct from influence from its advertisers, partners, and sponsors and our transparency policy requires anyone who serves on the FWIW staff to fully disclose any potential conflict of interest with any sponsor or vendor.
Advertisers: FWIW accepts advertising on our newsletters, website and events (collectively, “Properties”), which may include third-party banners, badges, contextual advertising, and content created or provided by an advertiser. Some advertisements, which may appear as text paragraphs, thumbnail pictures, badges, or other types of text or pictures, are what is known as “native advertisements” and appear adjacent to editorial content. These ads are labelled "Sponsor Content", "From Our Sponsor", “By (our Sponsor)”, “Provided by (our Sponsor)” or “From (our Sponsor).” Regardless of the form of an advertisement, the advertiser is responsible for the accuracy and objectivity of their advertising and it is subject to our advertising policy. Please be assured that we try to provide true and accurate statements regarding any products, services, or companies mentioned, reviewed, or recommended by FWIW, and we seek to apply this to all advertising on our Properties. And, regardless of any affiliations, we allow only products, services, or companies to advertise on FWIW that we use personally or believe will be of interest to our readers.
Affiliates: Like most digital media companies, we have financial relationships with various affiliates, advertisers, sponsors, and other third parties (collectively, "Affiliates") whose products, services, and messaging are described in, or appear on, our Properties. We provide these Affiliate Compensation Disclosures to you because we believe in transparency.
FWIW often receives monetary and other forms of compensation from Affiliates for various advertising, sponsorships (such as sponsored posts or sponsored stories within our editorial content), insertion orders, commercial messaging, and other promotional campaigns that we feature on our Properties. Thus, there is often a paid connection between FWIW and an Affiliate with respect to a product, service, or company mentioned, reviewed, or recommended on our Properties. If you ultimately decide to purchase a product or service mentioned on our Properties, we may receive additional compensation from an Affiliate in connection with that purchase. This is called an affiliate link.
Whenever there is such an Affiliate relationship, we will clearly and conspicuously disclose it adjacent to, or within the, content. For example, such a disclosure may state: “This is a sponsored/affiliate post.”
Please be assured that we try to provide true and accurate statements regarding any products, services, or companies mentioned, reviewed, or recommended by FWIW on our Properties, regardless of whether the company is an Affiliate. And, regardless of any affiliations, we only recommend products, services, or companies that we use personally or believe will be of interest to our readers.
Investors: Finally, when our content relates to products or services our investors provide, compete with, or invest in, our content is created with total editorial independence. None of our investors have access to our editorial and publication process unless we have an agreement with that investor that specifically contemplates a content-creation relationship. If such a relationship exists, we would clearly disclose it as noted above. We will remind our audience of the relationship when we write directly about the business or other activities of an investor.
